One of the craft returns to Earth, however, landing in a Mexican desert. The crew has evidence of life on other planets, but they are unable to cope with the hardships of the desert. The five space travelers are driven insane by thirst, start murdering one another, and engage in cannibalism until only one man is left. Completely mad, he stumbles into a Mexican village. Prochnow, one of the crew members, would achieve stardom in the US with the release of DAS BOOT (1981), going on to appear in American made-for-TV movies.
