A documentary by Hans Hylkema about the life and music of American jazz musician Eric Dolphy. The documentary features his biographer Thierry Bruneau, people involved in his performances in the Netherlands and Germany, musicians and people close to him. Dutch musicians in the documentary include: Han Bennink, Misha Mengelberg and jazz historian Michiel de Ruyter. Of course, the documentary also pays much attention to the music of Dolphy, black-and-white recordings (and photos) Eric Dolphy and shots of cities (Paris, Berlin and Los Angeles) that have played a role in his life.
