Separate Silences is a two-person virtual reality filmic experience. The story is about two siblings who were involved in a traffic accident. As their state worsens at the hospital, they hover between coma, dreams and sleep paralysis. As the participant, you are invited into a physical hospital bed to see, and be involved in, the story from the perspective of one of two siblings. However, the experience does not only affect sight and hearing. Whatever happens to your virtual body will also happen to your corporeal body. The VR experience was officially selected for Cannes Film Festival 2017, Venice Film Festival 2017 and Luxembourg Film Festival 2018. The experience won “Best Storytelling & Experience” at CopenX (Copenhagen), “Best VR Cinematic” at Halo Awards (Amsterdam) and was nominated for a Golden Lion at Venice Film Festival’s VR competition 2017.
