Alan Wilson grew up in Arlington, Massachusetts, where he attended Arlington High School and where his love for blues grew, along with his blues record collection. He went out to Los Angeles to attend school, where he met Bob Hite, who shared a similar love for blues music. They formed the band, Canned Heat, in 1966.
