Tim Riel was born in Jamaica Queens, New York and raised in the sticks of New Jersey. His father, an irrepressible Filipino Irishmen, taught Tim to honor people and their struggles, and to find beauty in the midst of hardship. His mother was a prolific reader and a poet; in fact, Tim ranks her as one of the great Irish poets.
