Mara Katria was born in California and raised with her older sister by her parents (Steve and Marnie) in New York's Hudson Valley. Though she was two, she has stated that she will never forget the first time she saw the snow fall. She was held back one year in kindergarten because she daydreamed too vividly and too often.
